As previously reported, McLaren will use a super light carbon fiber roof for the Spider, which will flip backwards and retract into a compartment between the engine and passengers. The use of carbon fiber will help the roof weigh far less than a conventional soft top.\u00a0The roof mechanism looks familiar because it is made by the same manufacturer that has done the one for the 458 spider.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/img14.imageshack.us\/img14\/6741\/mp412sblacko.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"MP4-12S\" src=\"http:\/\/img14.imageshack.us\/img14\/6741\/mp412sblacko.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/img220.imageshack.us\/img220\/7422\/mp412sblackc.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"MP4-12S\" src=\"http:\/\/img220.imageshack.us\/img220\/7422\/mp412sblackc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"277\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We can clearly see from the images below (and renderings) the rear of the vehicle will be constructed differently from the coupe as well, with the rear deck to be a relatively flat surface similar to the Ferrari 458 Spider.
