2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Leaks

Seems like Mercedes-Benz can’t keep their new C-Class under wraps as leaks just keep on appearing on the internet.

Although there has been many leaks of the C-Class, this one seems the most significant as the pictures show its sibling DNA, especially from the S-Class.

The car seems more sculpted and stylish now, the last-gen C-Class became a bit bland 6 years later but this really will spice things up a bit.

The new C-Class is expected to be 100 kilograms lighter than the previous-gen. More aluminum body panels and a Modular RWD (MRA) architecture. With rivals such as the 3-Series boasting more leg room, the new C-Class’s wheel base will probably be stretched by about 8 cm.

Engine choices are plentiful too including a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbo with 157 HP (115 kW), a larger 2.0-liter turbo with 186 HP (136 kW) and a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder diesel rated at 170 HP (125 kW). Expect a 5.5-liter Biturbo AMG variant of the C Class to take on the new recently revealed BMW M3 and M4.

Expect the new C-Class to be revealed on Monday.

Mercedes-Benz Unleashes S63 AMG

Since Mercedes-Benz released the W222 S-Class, it was no surprise that AMG would get their hands on one, and after a not-so-long wait and a bunch of leaks and a teaser video, here it is, fresh out of Affalterbach, the brand-spankin’-new Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG!

The new S63 AMG is no joke, it has mountains of power, an exquisite interior and a beautiful exterior design with added aggression which doesn’t only enhance looks, but performance too.

The big powerful ‘Benz will feature the same 5.5-liter biturbo M157 motor found in most AMG’s today (CLS63, ML63, SL63, E63, G63, GL63 and CL63),  the only difference is, that it will produce 585 horsepower and 900 Nm torque! As ridiculous as those numbers get, we’re pretty sure you can expect an S Model which will push it to well over 600 bhp!

The new S63 AMG will come in 3 different variants, a short-wheel-base, long-wheel-base, and for the first time ever in a S63 AMG, a 4MATIC long-wheel-base. Now that you’ve heard ‘4MATIC’, you must be wondering the 0-60 times, well, the short and long-wheel-base models both do it in 4.4 second, while the 4MATIC on the other had does it in a stupendously fast 4.0 seconds dead! However, we reckon if you push it hard enough, it will hit 3.9, if you keep trying of course.

Displacement: 5461 cc

Output: 430 kW (585 hp) at 5500 rpm

Max. Torque: 900 Nm at 2250-3750 rpm

Kerb Weight: 1970 kg

Acceleration (0-100 km/h): 4.4s

Even though weight isn’t that important when it comes to a big luxury car, the new S65 is still pretty impressive, this time, the short-wheel-base has the edge as weighs 1970 kg whilst the long-wheel-base weighs just 25 kg more at 1995 kg. Nonetheless, the S63 AMG is still lighter than its ‘new’ rival, the Rolls-Royce Ghost’s which weighs 2,470 kg.

On the subject of rivalry, from the way the S-Class has been designed inside and out, it really seems like Mercedes-Benz has pushed the S-Class out of the executive car segment (BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, etc..) to the luxury car segment  (Rolls-Royce Ghost/Phantom, Bentley Mulsanne, etc..). The W221 wasn’t a rival as such but now, the W222 has really pushed those boundaries out of the way.

AMG hasn’t opted for a double-clutch , instead, they went for their traditional AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox which is also found in most AMG’s that have the M157 motor.

For those who don’t understand what ‘4MATIC’ means, it essentially means ‘all-wheel-drive’. The good news is that this drivetrain is rear-biased where 33 percent goes to the front axle and 67 percent is sent to the rear axle, which of-course means a more pleasurable driving experience.

The latest technology in the new S-Class is the MAGIC BODY CONTROL suspension. This great bit of kit scans the road ahead and adjusts the suspension accordingly to give thus giving the feeling that the bumps in the road have been ironed out.

Moving on to the sexy exterior (got a little biased there), the S63 AMG features some great new enhancements. First of all, the normal S-Class’s bumper has been ditched in favour of a much more aerodynamic bumper as well as a splitter which infact looks very cool indeed! The rear is very AMG-like, with a nice diffuser and quad-square exhaust pipes which of course have AMG logo’s embedded onto them.

You might of also noticed the new exclusive AMG 19-inch lightweight alloys which are held by 255/45 tyres at the front and 285/40 at the back.

The interior, well, have a look yourself. Isn’t it one of the most exquisite places to be?

The new Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG will make its debut at Frankfurt Auto Show this September and will go on sale soon after at a price of around £120,000.

Achtung! S63 AMG Teased

Following the all-new W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class’s reveal, it is no surprise it’ll be getting some AMG treatment, and finally, we have the first official teaser.

The W222 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG will feature the same M157 motor found in most modern AMG’s today. The output is not yet known but it is expected to produce around 557 hp and around 590 lb-ft torque on a rear-wheel-drive platform. The new S63 AMG is also rumoured to be a part of the S trim found in the E63 AMG S and the CLS63 AMG S, this will evidently push the horsepower figure up to around 585 hp.

Expect a ridiculously powerful S65 AMG variant to join the AMG family too!

Spied: Mercedes SLC?

mercedes-slc-amg

These aren’t really spyshots. No really, Mercedes has put these pics online themselves. Without any further information or whatsoever. Many say this the new ‘baby SLS’ called the ‘SLC’. From the pics however, the dimensions are fairly SLS-ish. Or should Jaguar wet their pants for early F-type competition in the form of an SLC? What’s Benz up to now? And where is BMW?

A ‘Super Leicht’ Edition

If it is indeed the SLC, it’ll have to be quite a niche. Sitting in between all sorts of roadster convertibles like the SLK and SL model range. Most likely to also incorporate the aluminium spaceframe from the SLS and have the same front-engined rear-wheel-drive layout.

[nggallery id=36]

Baby body = Baby price, right?

Compared to its daddy counterpart’s £170,000 price tag, the SLC will likely start around a Porsche 911 battling figure of around £85,000 which isn’t exactly ‘baby’ but still less than half of what the SLS AMG costs. Meaning Mercedes-Benz is likely to pull the same trick Jaguar did with the F-type.

What does it lose?

Unfortunately, the SLS AMG’s iconic gullwing doors won’t appear on the SLC, nor will its M156 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8.

Which engine options will be available?

A variety of brand-new engines will appear such as a new 4.0-litre turbo V8 that produces around 480bhp and will allegedly be in the next-gen C63 AMG. However, performance figures won’t halt there, a more powerful model using the same engine will be pushed to around 580bhp, while a planned turbo 3.0-litre V8 engine with around 350bhp will probably be more convenient. Don’t hold your breath there, a Black Series version will soon follow. Crazy right? Just leaves you to wonder, where is BMW?

BMW? We want a new Z8. Immediately.

*Update, this new pic shows off the dimensions of the car much better.

Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG Edition 1

A couple of months after revealing the all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Edition 1, Mercedes-Benz has gone that one-step ahead by giving the CLA45 AMG some Edition 1 treatment too.

In 2013, Mercedes-Benz debuted the Edition 1 for the CLA-Class, but for the 45 AMG, the Edition 1 treatment adds a whole new level of aggression which makes the CLA45 to look that whole lot meaner.

[nggallery id=44]

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG Edition 1 incorporates many exterior and interior options found on the A45 AMG Edition 1, which includes: a gloss black rear lip spoiler, matte-black 19-inch alloy wheels and graphite grey side strips as well as an abundance of red accents on the car including the front grille, mirrors, wheels and brake calipers.

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Revealed in Production Film

Combining beauty and the beast. Is this the result?

Mercedes-Benz has released a video showcasing the production line of the new S-Class, giving us an insight into how it is all put together.

That’s all fair enough, but what strikes us is what Mercedes-Benz decided to sneak into the end of the video – an AMG version of the W222 S-Class. The one particularly in question is the S63 AMG which now features an aggressive front end, bigger rims and a chunkier side skirt.

mercedes_benz_s63_amg

So what do you think? Already looks like an absolute beast doesn’t it! As all AMG’s, the badging allows it to shout out from the rooftops that its a beast of a car. Behind the S63 AMG is an ordinary S-Class with the optional AMG Sport Pack; you can immediately tell the difference. Big gaping front vents showcases that this S-Class is packing some punch underneath the hood and it means business!

Speculatively, the new W222 S63 AMG is to gain the same M157 5.5 litre biturbo V8 that you find in most AMG’s these days. It is expected to produce around 557 PS and push around 720Nm of torque. However, this begs a question, is that the peak of what is needed in the real world, or will Mercedes-AMG go that one step ahead to lunacy level and release the S65 AMG which will evidently feature AMG’s M275 6.0 litre V12 that produces over 620hp and has an astonishing 1,000Nm of torque? Time can only tell!
