On December 6th 2007, Nissan launches a car of every petrol-heads dream. An addition to an iconic range of Japanese high performance cars which have achieved much fame and success on road and track. The Nissan GT-R. Dubbed as the ‘R35’, finds its heritage in the Nissan Skyline GT-R family.
Nissan aimed high and equipped it with fresh styling , brutal power and sophisticated computers offering the performance of a 911 Turbo for almost half the purchase price. This bang for the buck instantly became very popular, and brought every aspect of the car tuning world to a whole new level.
The R35 has been improved by Nissan over the years. And looking into the future, the Japanese automaker will continue doing so as recent news coming from Nissan has struck us. The almighty GTR isn’t going to return before 2018. Instead, Nissan seems to have planned an overhaul for the R35 for late 2014. Giving it a facelift and a performance boost to clear the gap with the all new Porsche 911 Turbo.
*Update: Late 2013 and not 2014, the facelift for R35 was released along with the superfast GT-R Nismo .
Nurburgring
Over the period of its production of about 5 years, Nissan anatomized the Nurburgring lap record by achieving an impressive 7:43:65 with absolutely brutal acceleration with an astonishing 3.5 second sprint to 60 mph (not to mention 2.7 seconds for the 2013 model). At the time they set their GT-R time, the N’ring war with the 911 Turbo commenced.
Now, since we like looking into the future at Wild Speed, using a shiny crystal ball the internet, the latest rumors and the future design language presented on concept cars. And considering the amount of concept cars Nissan released over the past years, it’s seems like they’re heavily experimenting with their future design. A good occasion to take some design cue’s of these cars and pour some spicy GT-R sauce on it.
There might also be a need for a set of wings as in 2018 we might just be able to fly.
WHAT’S THERE TO EXPECT?
