A video has emerged of the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG testing at the Nurburgring. It gives us a great chance to listen to the brand new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Unlike the previous-gen C63 AMG’s 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8, the 4.0-liter V8 in the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is twin-turbocharged which unsuprisingly means it’s not going to sound as raw and loud as its predecessor. In fact, the new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is so quite, tyre squeal can be heard more than the engine itself in some corners.
The new lower-displacement engine will replace the current 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that most AMG’s possess. For those who don’t know, the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is currently codenamed ‘M177′ and is capable of producing around 480 – 580 hp depending on what the customer orders. The Currently codenamed M177, the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is predicted to produce between 480 hp and an incredible 580 hp depending on what specification is ordered. It will then be mated to the 7G-MCT SpeedShift automatic transmission currently used in a selection of other AMG models.
In terms of looks, the new C63AMG is not much of a surprise anymore. It is highly likely to look like the rendering shown above.
