McLaren MP4-12C Wearing A Cloth

They’re obviously ‘hiding’ something. Most likely a minor facelift, or life cycle impulse, as BMW would call it. Since MP4-12C was first introduced in 2009, this wouldn’t be a bad idea.

We can see a new set of LEDS shining through the piece of fabric streched over the front of this McLaren Spider spotted somewhere in Germany. The front bumper and interior are to receive some minor updates as well.  And perhaps a little surprise in the back, who knows. We’ll see in Frankfurt at the IAA this september.

That’s pretty much it.Oh, and a couple extra ponies of course. About 640.

Jaguar’s Mouth Watering Project 7 Concept

Jaguar just revealed a F-Type variant of every racers dreams, the Project 7. It’s in concept form, and it’s an utter shame that it’s only been created to wow the crowds at the Festival of Speed. Yep, you guessed it, it’s another one-off!

It’s becoming quite annoying how Jaguar are failing to give us cars that us petrol-heads actually want, such as the C-X75, that is a supercar that belongs on the road, but Jaguar will keep it caged up.

The Project 7 Concept is based on the F-Type Roadster, and looks like a modern day successor of the Jaguar D-Type.

Based on the F-Type Roadster, the Jaguar Project 7 (the name refers to Jaguar’s seven Le Mans triumphs) is strictly a one-off design study designed to wow the crowds at the Festival of Speed.

The amazing thing is, that Jaguar’s designers actually turned it from sketch, to reality in just four-months, which is pretty impressive!

It features a new carbon-fibre front-splitter, side skirts and a rear diffuser. The windscreen been reduced down in size, giving the Project 7 a hint of D-Type. The rear features a fixed spoiler and a deeper front bumper design. The bonnet vents, wing mirrors and even inserts on those huge 20-inch alloy wheels feature carbon-fibre.

Having only space for the driver on the inside, the Project 7 Concept goes with a race-inspired theme.. Where the passenger would normally sit, is where the driver can keep his helmet, and the helmet itself goes with the cars’ theme by having it matching to the blue exterior paintwork. The seating position is also race-inspired, as the driver sits 30mm lower than the standard F-Type. Even the drivers’ seat has been changed to a composite bucket seat and is gripped by a four-point harness.

The power isn’t on the short-list, the Project 7 Concept incorporates a not-so-subtle 5.0-litre supercharged V8 from the original F-Type V8 S but with an extra 54bhp, taking the final figure to an astonishing 545bhp. Torque has also been increased from 625Nm to 680Nm

Under the bonnet is the same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 as the F-Type V8 S but with an extra 54bhp, taking the total output to 545bhp. Torque also increases from 625Nm to 680Nm. Put the pedal to the metal and you’ll be hitting 0-60 in 4.1 seconds.

Lady Ferrari Owned By Single Egg

Well it’s not entirely new about what is happening in London; all the owners of beautiful supercars are being hated on by London residents because they are apparently causing too much havoc on the streets and disturbing all the residents from normal day-to-day living. For anyone who doesn’t know what we’re on about, watch the ‘Millionaire Boy Racers’ documentary.

With this video, it’s absolutely no surprise, this video was shot on Sloanne Street in London which is a hotspot for supercar spotters, oh and for angry residents! It seems someone watching from above saw this lovely yellow Ferrari 458 Italia Spider coming a mile off and decided to get an egg ready hopefully aiming for the womans’ head but instead, it ends up hitting the windscreen frame, scaring the living daylights out of the driver.

A New 5 Series? Already?

Yes, this is a new generation BMW 5 series Touring. Completely new. We didn’t expect to see this so soon. We don’t even know the codename yet. Ok, BMW  just released the 5 series LCI, and we know the cars from BMW undergo a full, long and thorough test programme. Where the new gen 7 series (G11)  is already on the trail, this is just facing the start of it and won’t see a production version before 2016.

Even though it is packed with camouflage it does show some new design cues. Likely to be sharing some elements with the recent BMW releases and the upcoming BMW 7 series. It will go on a diet with CFRP tech, like the new gen 7series,  making it much lighter then the current models.

Spied: Mercedes SLC?

mercedes-slc-amg

These aren’t really spyshots. No really, Mercedes has put these pics online themselves. Without any further information or whatsoever. Many say this the new ‘baby SLS’ called the ‘SLC’. From the pics however, the dimensions are fairly SLS-ish. Or should Jaguar wet their pants for early F-type competition in the form of an SLC? What’s Benz up to now? And where is BMW?

A ‘Super Leicht’ Edition

If it is indeed the SLC, it’ll have to be quite a niche. Sitting in between all sorts of roadster convertibles like the SLK and SL model range. Most likely to also incorporate the aluminium spaceframe from the SLS and have the same front-engined rear-wheel-drive layout.

[nggallery id=36]

Baby body = Baby price, right?

Compared to its daddy counterpart’s £170,000 price tag, the SLC will likely start around a Porsche 911 battling figure of around £85,000 which isn’t exactly ‘baby’ but still less than half of what the SLS AMG costs. Meaning Mercedes-Benz is likely to pull the same trick Jaguar did with the F-type.

What does it lose?

Unfortunately, the SLS AMG’s iconic gullwing doors won’t appear on the SLC, nor will its M156 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8.

Which engine options will be available?

A variety of brand-new engines will appear such as a new 4.0-litre turbo V8 that produces around 480bhp and will allegedly be in the next-gen C63 AMG. However, performance figures won’t halt there, a more powerful model using the same engine will be pushed to around 580bhp, while a planned turbo 3.0-litre V8 engine with around 350bhp will probably be more convenient. Don’t hold your breath there, a Black Series version will soon follow. Crazy right? Just leaves you to wonder, where is BMW?

BMW? We want a new Z8. Immediately.

*Update, this new pic shows off the dimensions of the car much better.

Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG Edition 1

A couple of months after revealing the all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Edition 1, Mercedes-Benz has gone that one-step ahead by giving the CLA45 AMG some Edition 1 treatment too.

In 2013, Mercedes-Benz debuted the Edition 1 for the CLA-Class, but for the 45 AMG, the Edition 1 treatment adds a whole new level of aggression which makes the CLA45 to look that whole lot meaner.

[nggallery id=44]

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG Edition 1 incorporates many exterior and interior options found on the A45 AMG Edition 1, which includes: a gloss black rear lip spoiler, matte-black 19-inch alloy wheels and graphite grey side strips as well as an abundance of red accents on the car including the front grille, mirrors, wheels and brake calipers.
